Can You Back Track in Syria on Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the second entry in the reboot Tomb Raider series. On this new adventure, Lara Croft learns more about her late father's past and searches for the treasure he never found. Rise of the Tomb Raider is hailed as one of the best games in the series and is a fan favorite.

While Rise of the Tomb Raider shares many gameplay elements from Tomb Raider (2013), it does a far better job expanding these concepts and introducing new gameplay elements to the series. This guide will cover some first things you should know before you start playing Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Invest Your Skill Points

After you collect enough XP, you will unlock skill points that you will spend on upgrading Lara's abilities. You should use these skill points to match your preferred playstyle, but some skill points are great early investments. The first is the Avid Learner skill, which will reward you 20-30 percent more XP when you discover secrets throughout the game.

If you unlock this reward early, this XP boost will help shorten the wait until you get another skill point. Another helpful XP boost is the Finesse skill, which gives you extra XP when you chain together headshots, stealth kills, or death from above kills. In short, you should invest your Skill Points early so you can unlock more skills later.

Survival Instincts Is Integral To The Game

Survival Instincts is a game mechanic that highlights items in the world for Lara. One of the primary uses for survival instincts is to find various plants, animals, and loot crates. That said, you can also use it to highlight important pieces of puzzles and nearby enemies.

Rise of the Tomb Raider makes a strong point of teaching you this gameplay mechanic. This mechanic will be one of the most used buttons in the game, so make a good habit of using it because it will help you out immensely.

Master Your Bow

Lara's bow is now a staple of the franchise and the most powerful and versatile weapon in the game. You will use her bow for tons of things, including solving puzzles and traversal. The bow is undoubtedly a great item, but it is also an excellent weapon in stealth situations.

One thing about these new Tomb Raider games that make explicit is that Lara Croft is not invincible, so you will need to approach combat situations with intelligence. The bow is the perfect tool for picking off enemies and will give you the best advantage in combat.

Hunt To Win

Speaking of Lara's bow, one thing you will be lots of if you want to upgrade your equipment is to hunt animals. After you kill an animal, you can use its hide to make pouches and tools. While you are on the hunt, keep an eye out for collectible plants like hardwood.

These plants can craft items like arrows for your bow. So they are worth going out of your way to collect. Being a rabid collector of hides and loot will only make you stronger, so it's a good habit to form.

Explore Everything The Game Has To Offer

It would not be a Tomb Raider game if there were no tombs to raid. As you continue through the campaign, you will run across tombs and sidequest for Lara to do. These quests are worth doing because they usually have rewards attached to them or XP. Not to mention these sidequests can be fun too. If you want to maximize your experience and get much better loot, be sure to explore every corner of the map.

Outfits Matter And Go Beyond Looks

Lara Crofts's different outfits look great, but did you know that they can give you some performance buffs. While looking for new clothing, make sure that it serves your playstyle more than how it looks. Not to say that your clothing looks are not necessary. It is just that you will probably want the better stats.

There are loads of outfits to unlock and try out, and you can look through them at any base camp. You can find these outfits under the weapons menu at a base camp. You will also notice how you will have to craft a few of these outfits, highlighting how important hunting and gathering are.

Upgrade And Change Loadouts At Campfires

As you go through the campaign, you will run across many base camps where Lara can take a break, craft, and upgrade her equipment. These base camps are vital to your success, and you should take this time to strategize your next moves. You might even be stopping by one before going on a side quest, but the same logic applies. These base camps are there to help you succeed, and they can make or break certain sections of the game.

It's Ok, And Necessary, To BackTrack

The last thing you need to know before you start Rise of the Tomb Raider is that it is almost essential that you backtrack through the open-world sections of the game. You might come across a tomb or a puzzle that you cannot solve until you find something further down the road.

So going back the way you just came will happen more than a few times. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a linear game, but it does dabble in open-world design. During these sections of the game, remember to take your time and get into the exploration side of Tomb Raider.
